Well gang, it's almost Chirstmas time. Here's hoping you and

Here's some late breaking news. This past weekend saw a very successful
TARA RTTY Sprint. I worked it most of the entire 8 hours. I
had lots of fun and made quite a few contacts. A little more effort
and I might have even gotten WAS. The comments received so far and/or
viewed on the RTTY e-mail reflector were all very positive. WF1B,
the author of the most widely used RTTY program has announced that the
next version (now in Beta) will include the TARA sprint contest settings.
Speaking of this software, it was discovered that there is a bug in the
latest version. This was reported by several of the participants
in the sprint. One of the purposes of the sprint is for people to
shake the bugs out of their setups prior to the ARRL RTTY Roundup in January.
So we're glad the sprint is meeting it's purposes. If you've never
worked RTTY, it's a great way to make use of the CW portion of the bands.
An added bonus is that everyone that runs RTTY is really nice, at least
in my experiences. Why not give it a try! Until next month

UK Hams Mark Centenary Of Historic Radio Message
Reuters reported that British radio hams Saturday, December 6, marked the
100th anniversary of the world's first permanent wireless station by rebroadcasting
the pioneering message sent from it by Italian Guglielmo Marconi around
the globe. An amateur radio society used frequencies normally reserved
for Britain's Defense Ministry and Civil Aviation Authority to greet a
Concorde airliner and dozens of ships, including the cruise liner QE2.
"CQ, CQ (seeking you). Calling all stations," the West Wight society broadcast,
using the formula of Marconi on December 6, 1897, when he began transmissions
from the Needles Hotel on the Isle of Wight, southern England, to nearby
ships.
