• Well gang, I hope y'all had a great Christmas and, so far, a Happy New Year!  We spent Christmas down in the Sunshine State (out of a whole week, the sun shone for about 10 hours!!)  We visited Epcot Center and that place near the Daytona Beach Airport where they drive cars around in a circle for 500 miles!!

But seriously, we made our first trip to the NASCAR museum at the Daytona International Speedway.  We enjoyed the exhibits and the movies.  They had an actual pit stop demo, then took volunteers from the audience to do a simulated pit stop against the clock.  They used a real car, but it had no engine or transmission and only the moderator could lower the jack.  Also, the gas can was empty (full, it weighs over 100 pounds!).
We had our share of severe weather last weekend.  A very heavy thunderstorm lasted for about and hour and a half.  Lightning took out our microwave and VCR.  Fortunately, I had surge protectors on the computer equipment and lots of other things.  Now I've got them on everything!  I guess I shouldn't complain when I see what's going on up North with the ice storms and flooding.  Remember to help our ARES and RACES if you can.

So far we have received 41 logs via e-mail and an even bigger batch by snail mail.  Many, many new participants submitted logs this year.  Of the 41 logs received via e-mail, 23 are from DX stations.  That's over half!!  We'll have a full report as soon as we get the paper logs entered into the TARA contest log super computer.  Just like TARA, this contest gets bigger and better every year.  For help getting started on RTTY, contact Bill, NY2U or Tom, N2TR.
